"Fosse's texts demands of the performers a lot of honesty, call it human weak-mindedness. In helping the actors not to play 'theatre', I have used the camera constantly as a reference, the camera as voyeur. Gradually the acting developed proceeding from an intimate relation with the camera. The theatre became a movie location and the performance a movie." LP
