In his epochal novel "Grapes of Wrath", published in 1939 in the USA, John Steinbeck tells the story of the Joad family. Like thousands of others who were no longer able to pay their rent they followed the call to "Go West!", hoping to find a new existence on the Californian fruit plantations. With its international, multilingual cast, this production shows an archetypal history of migration.
