PenthesileaIn Kleist's tragedy about ,,love and war", man turns into an animal. The Amazons were deprived of their men, raped and humiliated. Incessant strife blunted and brutalised the Greeks. In a world where waging war has become a daily survival strategy, a conflict extending over generations; man and woman are locked in a battle of the sexes. Even love is unable to heal the traumas of the past. To Kleist, the only way out is death.
